“Landlord Boot Camp: The ABC’s of Residential Landlord Tenant Law” – Fourth Annual Seminar for Apartment Association of Southeastern Wisconsin (AASEW) – Saturday, February 25, 2012 from 8:30 am – 5:30 pm at the Clarion Hotel located at 5311 S. Howell Ave. Topics to be covered include but are not limited to: screening potential tenants, drafting legal screening criteria, Fair Housing issues, rental documents, causes for eviction, notices terminating tenancy, the judicial eviction process, ATCP 134, collection of judgments (including garnishments), late fees, abandoned property issues and more. Cost will be $159 for AASEW members, $199 for members of any apartment/landlord association other than AASEW and $249 for non-members. “Bed Bug Boot Camp” - Produced by Wil Kil Pest Control, Tuesday, March 15, 2012 from 1 pm – 4:30 pm at Radisson Hotel Milwaukee West, 2303 N. Mayfair Road in Milwaukee. I will be speaking for 45-60 minutes on landlords’ responsibility to provide a habitable rental unit, local laws regarding insect infestations and landlords’ responsibilties regarding same, and how landlords can best prevent/protect/prepare themselves for bed bug litigation. Additional speakers will speak on identification of bed bugs, control of bed bugs and there will be a Bed Bug Canine Scent Detection demonstration. Kandis — The best L-T organization in the MIlwaukee area is the AASEW (Apartment Association of Southeastern Wisconsin). The website is apartmentassoc.org.
